    Posted: 21 July 2004 at 11:14am

Hi there,

I'm trying to get the email functionality to work in Web Wiz forums

I'm using Brinkster (paid) but their mail servers all require authentication now to send and receive.

New users are not getting email to register their account, but if I send a PM that notification works...any ideas?

I know normally I have to include the pwd of the account sending the mail but I don't see that option.

Thanks

The current version of web wiz forums does not support SMTP server authentication.

You would need to edit the file functions/functions_send_mail.asp and add the authentication yourself.

There are a few examples in some posts if you search the forum.

Thanks working on it....

Any ideas on why some portions of the forums will email me (without editing the file) and others won't?

For example: no welcome email or registration email

but I get Topic reply and New PM emails....

I have most of the email components you support available to me, are any better then the rest (speed of sending etc..)

Thanks Again

Chris

The email servers probally only require authentication when sending an email to a non local email address.

Only a few components allow SMTP authentication, so this will be you limiting factor.

The components that Web Wiz Forums currently support only CDOSYS, AspEmail, and JMail support SMTP authentication
