    Posted: 22 April 2004 at 6:42pm

Web Wiz forums is not working correctly on my machine. Running windows XP pro. Just upgraded to 7.7a - have been running 7.6 or something for a while (no problems).

Here is the error:

HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server Error - ASP error
Internet Information Services

Technical Information (for support personnel)

  • Error Type:
    (0x8007007F)
    /forum/common.asp, line 260

  • Browser Type:
    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)

  • Page:
    GET /forum/default.asp

  • Time:
    Thursday, April 22, 2004, 3:36:56 PM

  • More information:
    Microsoft Support

It is very similar to many topics I found in the forum, but none address this exactly (that I could find), nor is anything in the FAQ's that directly match this.

From one posting, I installed the "MDAC 2.7 RTM" from microsoft, no luck. I also have played around with all permissions - to the point I had everything for IUSR as full control - still no luck. I have other webpages in other directories running OK (html only), and an html page in that directory (one i stick in there for example) works fine, just the asp stuff won't run, but it did before. Had the original database file in, but then resintalled the forum (after deleting the directory) and used the default access file, still no difference.

During previous version upgrades I have always had to play with the permissions to get it to work, which was no surprise, but I always got it to work. This time it seems much different. I searched the MS site and found no exact issues that seem to mirror my problem.

The result is the same whether I access this webpage (on my home computer) from the computer itself or from a remote location.

Thanks in advance,

Scott Eklund
