Hi

I am not sure if any one else is getting this. I have a feeling it is IIS or the web server that is causing this, but I am getting errors on some of the URLS that users can click on. So when the user clicks on this, it is causing a 500 error on the server. I must point out that I have not seen this myself. I do get emails from ever 500 error that the server generates, so I get notified when these errors occur.

Yesterday the google bot caused 30 of these errors.

This is the error information that I got :

* UserAgent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)
* URL /senate/calendar.asp
* COM Error #: -2146828275 (800A000D)
* Category:    Microsoft VBScript runtime
* File:        //.../senate/calendar.asp
* Line, Column:131, -1
* Description: Type mismatch: 'CInt'
HTTP_USER_AGENT:Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)
HTTP_X_REWRITE_URL:/senate/calendar.asp?M=794&Y=1mAtvyoB9Yj3
As you can see from this the the data at the back of the URL is incorrect, this then caused the CInt mismatch.

I am not sure how to approach sorting this out. If anyone has any ideas, or had the same thing and was then able to fix it, could give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it. Just some additional data, this has also occurred on other pages, the one that stands out is Validate.asp, and as with this one there was that additional data at the end of the URL.

Thanks
DM

It looks like this is being coursed by Google's index robot.

I do recall that this was reported before about 8 months ago or so, and to address this issue a new version was released that fixed this bug.

Could you please confirm that you are running the latest version? If not upgrade to the latest version and see if that prevents this error.

Hi  Borg

I checked the version that I am running on the server and it is 8.04. I then downloaded all the files to make sure that there were no corruptions, and they are the same as in the release zip file. The only files that are not the same are the layout files, css, and header etc.

Unfortunately it is not just isolated to googlebot, as I have had some errors from users on the activate.asp page. Just to add some additional problems, the errors have occurred to IE and firefox users. The only thing that they have in common is the corrupted data at the back of the URL. I have tried to get a copy of the email, but to date I have not managed to get one. This is a rather tricky and annoying little problem, as I have not had this happen to me it is rather difficult to track it down. If you have any ideas of any way of finding what may be causing this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Looking back at the error you given you have:-

HTTP_X_REWRITE_URL

Are you running some kind of ISAPI URL rewriter on the server? If so this maybe coursing the issue and corrupting the URL's.

As I also notice after this part in the error message it says:-

/senate/calendar.asp?M=794&Y=1mAtvyoB9Yj3

The part in blue should be the month (1 to 12) and the part in red should be the year (2006). There is nowhere in the code of the forum where these values can come from, so I can only guess that the ISAPI running on the server to rewrite URL's is coursing the corruption.
