As far as I can tell, this is not possible.  If there is a way to do this, can someone please share?

Basically, I want to create a clickable link to a folder on a network share, ie:

\\server\share\documents\

...or to a specific document, ie:

\\server\share\documents\file.doc

this is not directly possible - you would have to place the files in the web site and use

I thought about a virtual directory in IIS, but I don't currently have permissions.  I'll talk to our IT director about it...

You could use WebDav (network folders) to provide secure modify access to the share using IIS.
