in access we set a coloum data type as Numeric and its feild size as double..what is its equivalent in SQL server 2000

Well depends what kind of numbers your gonna store, you wont need more than long probably, which ranges from -2.15 billion to 2.15 billion.

well im storing IP numbers in the coloumb and wrong type of type afect the mathematical calculation of converted ip 2 ipnumber lookup...and therefore i get errors like data type conversion error and sh*t..,

i tried varchar
char
float
numeric

and none works..i remember i had a prefect runing database i made earlier but i deleted it and now forgot wht type of data types i used

if your storing IPS use char.  In your code you can then cut up all the sections of the IP address and use the cInt() on each section before performing calculations

varchar (50) work for me perfect.. earlier i tried varchat (255) and it just kept showing me errors in my ASP page but varchar(50) throw no error when i access the data via my asp page
