I get 100's of spam emails each day, it takes me around 15 to 20 minutes aday just going through and deleting them, add that up over a year and that's allot of time wasted deleting spam.
I think the problem is that as so many sites link to this one it often get hits by spammers spiders looking for email addresses, if you have ever placed your email address in a post, or have it displayed in the forum then I guess they probally pick it up that way.

you wont find the email in my profile posted anywhere, and this spam is above and beyond the "100's i get a day" (which you are not the only one who gets so), but i can 100% tell you that its because the emails are freely viewable by non-logged in people or bots, perhaps a nice little if statement of:
"if i am not a logged in member, i cannot view 'pop_up_profile.asp'"

I use a little javascript on my site to fool around those spiders, many of my "site" e-mails are still free of spam after 1 year, so, I think it's worthy it.
And I use http://www.sneakemail.com/ a lot when have sign up something

You can't view a person profile unless they are logged in anyway, also only people who choose form their profile to have their email address viewable have their email address shown in their profile.
As spiders are unable to register to use a forum they shouldn't be able to view anyones profile or email address.

You can't always teel it's spam though.
The other big problem I get is that I get around 5 to 20 virus a day in emails, luckly the combination of Eudora and PC-Cillion 2003 has ment that I haven't been infected by any email viruses yet.
