    Posted: 25 July 2004 at 4:29pm
I'm going to be buying a second monitor for my PC.  I have a GeForce2 MX400 graphics card which claims it can have dual monitors.  In the settings, I see dual monitor options.  However, physically I can't plug a second one in, because it only has one monitor output on the actual card!

Have they made a mistake or something?  Do I need to buy a new graphics card?

The GeForce2 MX400 is a GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) that's used by many video card manufactures. The GPU supports dual monitors but it's not always implemented on a particular card.

Some manufactures have an S-video/TV-Out connector on their MX400 card which can be used as an additional monitor.

Ok, so I guess i'll get a new card.  There are some cheap ones I've seen that support 2 monitors (i'm not looking for performance, I don't really do anything that requires an uber fast card)

Thanks

I think if you have a slot in the mother board to Plug another display card, WIndows XP can do it. But there is no motherboards with 2 AGP slots, and finding a PCI display card is something VERY difficult.

i've always wanted two monitors... i think i'll buy two monitors when i get a job. i always run out of desktop space. Do you know what would be really cool, but i don't think it's possible without expensive hardware would be to run diagnostics in two smaller monitors and then have your clear desktop on the big monitor... that way you could look at your diagnostics during testing without having any obstructions
