why i should not edit the forums by front page

Frontpage will typically add so much garbage into a page that in the case of a scripted page (such as ASP pages) that they will become unusable.

I personally use HomeSite ....

No problems with FP at all.

In Front Page - Page options make sure that in the tab HTML source the "Preserve existing HTML" is checked.

Than it does not change the HTML code.

No FP probs here either. Upgraded from 6.25 to 7.6. Just imported the new folder 'forum2', used the database migrate tool on the new DB, made a few adjustments in the admin panel ie assigned the right email program, and everything worked great.

This was on a Verio server.

Love this program!

I also use FP to edit all the pages and have had no problem until today.  See my post under pop_up_profile.asp  It describes that one problem.  It actually was occurring in Notepad as well.

Otherwise, FP works fine as long as you follow the tips outlined in the above posts.
