Topic: Email address changed Posted: 19 August 2003 at 7:30pm |
Hmm boRg - I just changed my email address on your forum. I was told to reactive my account. While I waited for the email to arrive, I returned back to the forum, but I was still logged in?? However, I could not enter my profile again, (cause I had not reactived yet).
I was wondering if the forum should show me as logged in, while I was waiting to reactive?

Were you still in the same browser session, or did you close all occurrences of your browser and then come back to the forum?

I know about the cookies, and know about the browser. But alot of people probably wont know about these things. All I suggest is, that the window somehow refresh, showing the user he is no longer logged in. The other thing confuses.

That is the way the forum is built to work, when you sign up or change email address you are logged in and can logg in, but until you activate your account you are very limited to what you can do, and can't do anymore than a guest user can do on the board.

Hmm.. Guess I have to explain again:
1. Go to your profile and change your email address. You now be told that you have to reactivate before you can log in again, and an email is beeing send to your new email address. So far so good.
2. Return back to the forum. Now it will show you as still beeing logged in. But you are not, not untill you have received the email, and reactivated.
I may be stupid, but this really did confuse me. So I wondered what people might think, if they´re not as familiare with computers like I am.
This was mostly an suggestion to somehow change the "return to forum" as showing NOT logged in insted.

But you ARE logged in or you wouldn't have been able to change your profile ;)
If in fact you are suggesting doing this so when you change your profile it automatically logs you out, what would be the point other than for 'looks'.
You are still a member, you are still logged in, whys that hard to accept, seems simple enough to me.
The confirmation email is sent as a type of security check and works very well, why go messing with the system when it works very well just now.
