Hi all,

I'm having problems getting e-mail notification to work properly on a Win2K3 installation in LAN environment.  I'm hosting on IIS6 with SMTP configured and enabled, but I can't seem to get WWF to send notification e-mails.  My config has CDOSYS selected as the mail component to use (which I understand is a default component with W2K3). How do I find out first of all if CDOSYS is running properly, and then if it is, where to go from there to track down why the notification e-mails aren't getting sent out.

Thanks for your help,
Jason

First if the forum isn't throwing an error when you send an email the CDOSYS component is working correctly.

If you are using an external SMTP server from another company you would need to check with them why the emails are not being relayed, they may have an authentication policy in place.

If you are using the local IIS SMTP server check in c:\inetpub\mailroot\pickup and c:\inetpub\mailroot\queue that the emails are not sat in there and are being relayed on. If they are then you need to make sure that your SMTP server is setup correctly to relay on emails.

FYI, something that gets me every time I set up a new IIS server is the mail directory (usually c:\inetpub\mailroot) and it's subdirectories need to have permissions changed so that the IIS guest account (usually IUSR_servername) can modify/write to those folders.
