This is the error message...

Server Error in Forum Application

An error has occured while executing SQL query on database.
Please check that the MySQL Server version is 4.1 or above.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_mySQL_get_birthdays
File Name:- default.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.0.27-max-log]You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '(tblAuthor.DOB) = 25 ORDER BY tblAuthor.Author_ID DESC' at line

So.....
I followed all the directions, after running the table setup files it said the database was ready to go, but when I try to access it I keep getting this error message.  What's up?  Need more information?

UPDATE: I recopied all the files back to the server, and I'm still getting the same error.  I thought maybe one of the files was corrupted, but that didn't seem to be the case.  Next I'm going to re-download the package, and go through the entire process again.  Hopefully the mods will unlock this so I can get some help...

2nd UPDATE:  I downloaded a fresh copy of the software, installed it via the directions, set up a new MySQL database, populated the database with the supplied asp document, and the form was ready to use.  Same error.

The only thing that I question at all is this: while creating a new MySQL database, I have the option of creating a DSN or not (or something like that) and I have been choosing to create it.  I also have the option of removing after the setup is complete.  Do I want the DSN there?

Ok, I feel kind of stupid now.. I guess a little reading goes a long way.  I search for my error code, and it seems to be a pretty popular one.  Time to contact GoDaddy and see what they say.  Admin, thanks for your help on the other forums...

GRRR... so... Go daddy won't update the server unless I go decicated, which I'm not about to pay for.  So, I'm left with a few choices:

1. Try to set up the Web Wiz forum software using Microsoft Access (theoretically I have the right software installed for that!)

2. Use the Snitz Forum 2000 software that I already have working on my site.  The menus aren't that great and it "feels old"... I don't know the code well enough to create skins for it, and just messing with the colors isn't my thing.  That's what led me to Web Wiz.

3. Screw the whole Windows server, switch back to Linux, and go with the phpBB Forum software.

Choices choices... I have a few days to decide.  I'd greatly appreciate any ideas.

The problem is that GoDaddy's version of mySQL is to old for Web Wiz Forums to run, you need version 4.1 or above (released over 2 years ago now).

The amount of issues GoDaddy users have with everything I would suggest dumping GoDaddy and go for a decent hosting company, there are plenty of them around.

You could always go for a hosting plan through Web Wiz Guide at www.webwiz.net and have the mySQL version pre-installed for you to use. Over the next week or so all hosting plans will be updated to include mySQL and have the bandwidth doubled. If you request it, you can have the mySQL version installed on any of the plans.
