"Experimental Support for new EU Cookie Directive compliance"

I was not aware of this directive and after visiting the coresponding site I was appalled.

I hope you will not be including an ugly (probably javascript) confirmation message for accepting cookies.

If I understood the directive correctly, it seems that the EU is looking to implement some serious e-Bureaucracy.

No ugly popups.

The directive does not allow non essential cookies and tracking cookies, but if cookies are used for a service requested by the user (ie. being a member of the forum), then cookies are fine.

In Web Wiz Forums case it means that cookies are only set for logged in members, non members would not have cookies set on their browser.

The biggest impact is for non members the last visit date is not stored in a cookie and so the forum can not show non members the posts since their last visit.

It's been tested on here and other forums for months and no one has noticed any difference, if they have no one has said.

And what about the adsense cookies?

Web Wiz Forums allows you to add 3rd party ad and analytics code to forums through the forum admin area. However, how these 3rd parties comply with the EU Cookie directive would be for you to discuss with your 3rd party ad provider.

I do know that Google are quite tight lipped at the present time on both  Adsense and Google Analytics, both of which would not currently comply with the Cookie Directive without getting permission for the website visitor.
