Dear all,

I am having three issues with file upload. Persits ASPUpload v3.1.0.4 has been installed and licensed.

1) Whenever inserting an uploaded file into a post, it fails once with this error message:

https://server.com/forum/RTE_popup_file_atch.asp
Error inserting object in current location.

Repeating exactly the same steps works.

2) Even when entering a title for the file, the file URL is shown in the post. We would like to see the title.

3) Any Internet user who knows the exact file URL, e.g. https://server.com/forum/uploads/1/file.pdf can access the file without being authenticated in the forum.

I would appreciate any help on these issues.

Best regards,
MPIDR

1. You can get this error if the cursor is not in the editor in the place where you want the upload to be included. The editor uses the cursors location within the editor to insert the link to the uploaded file. If the cursor is not in the editor it doesn't know where to insert the link and you get the error message.

2. The Post Editor uses the browsers Reich Text Editor API, and they all behave differently. With some browsers you will need to type in the text, then highlight it, then click the file upload icon. The highlighted text will be the link to the file upload.

2. Yes, you can hot link directly to the uploaded file. There is no way to prevent this using Classic ASP alone. The only way to prevent this would be to place the forum behind a password protected folder for the website set outside the forum software.
