Hello, I have setup the forum 7.01 on a w2k server at an ISP (quick connection) this connects though to a SQL2K server on a ADSL 1/2 line on BT openWorld. The applications on the web site are all conencting into the DB and running fine so the web server / link to DB and the DB are all running fine.
I installed the Forum and when ever I go to default.asp on the forum it takes about 20 seconds of waiting then it jumps into the Forum this happens when navigating on any file within the Forum directory. As the other apps are working DNS etc are all looking up quickly. I ran SQl Profiler on the Database and noticed that as soon as I started click to open the default.asp page their were a lot of queries going on for about 20 secods then the activity stopped the and the page displayed .
I have configured about 30 forums on under 2 catergories so this is why all the DB activity is going on. So to trouble shoot I removed all the forums except for 3. Then ran the default.asp page again and bingo it was their in a instant.
I think the problem is one of 2 things, either the amount of queries being run on the DB from the forum is very intensive for 30 forums or it is not optimized code.
If any has any ideas apart from moving the DB onto the web server (i cannot do this) then that would be great.
