Hi there,
For ages now I have been using version 6.34 on my website because I have liked the look of it, and now have decided to upgrade to try to intergrate chat into the forum (or at least only allow registered members into chatroom).  What I would like to know is will I be able to upgrade with my current database or will I have to delete and start from scratch?
Also is it worth upgrading just for chat intergation? or is the older version better for this? I currently use conquerchat and read somewhere that this chatroom can use the user database. I am willing to change chatroom, but only to one similar or an Irc based webchat.

Thanks anyways

Simon

There is a migration tool made about 4 years ago to migrate to posts and members to a 7.x database.

http://download.webwiz.net/webwizforums/ww7migrator.zip

I have also recently added a 7.x blank database to the zip file so you can migrate your 6.x forum to the 7.x database then use the 7.x to version 8 upgrade tool available on the download page.

There isn't currently a chat room feature in web wiz forums but one is planned very soon.

However, for security, and performance reasons you should upgrade to version 8.04 ASAP, you will also find that version 8 has many new and improved features over version 6

Hi, I've finally got round to upgrading my forum
But I've hit a problem trying to upgrade from 7.x to 8.x
I have both asp file and database in same folder with no forum installed at the moment, but when I type the path as just the database name it says it cant connect to it.  Its in the same folder as where the 6.x database was so read-write is no problem. I have tried with compressed and uncompressed databases to no avail.
Hopefully its nothing serious otherwise I'll just go back to 6.34

Simon

EDIT:- Opps My mistake - had a silly spelling mistake when uploading
All fixed now
Thanks for a wonderful Forum :)
