Hi

I have this forum on my site My db size is now 3.4 MB but when i delete posts on my forum and users the db size don`t decrease and

it`s still remain on 3.4 MB

 

what happened?

are you sure you are using MS SQL Server?
if you have access you must do a compact and repair.
If you have SQL Server it will decrease by itself I think.. but 3.4 MB is not much when you use SQL Server.. you can also ask your host to do a maintenace operation once a month or week or whatever, I think that will clean up all unnecessary sh*t in the database

MS SQL server has options that control things like autoshrinking, logfile size, etc. Usually managed through something like Enterprise Manager. Deleted stuff is often written to the logfile, which is part of your space allocation.

MS SQL Server 2000 BooksOnline does a pretty good job on covering the topic. Strongly suggest you read it before playing with the DB as some of the settings don't do what you would think they do.
