Topic: Would you Use this feature? Posted: 28 July 2004 at 3:00pm |

Im thinking of making a website where users can create categories and in those categories users can add things to it.
like DVD could be a category
in the category you can add your dvd's you have (would be private)
then when you are out and you see a DVD you think "Have i got that" you
can access the website through our wap gateway, and see if you have the
DVD.
and as you can have categories you can set it for games etc.
would you use this feature if it was available?
Bruce this is not spam im just not sure if it would be worth making or not , so i am asking if people think it is a good idea.

im going 1 better than that users can create their own categories.
users will be able to give their items a review and other users can search our database abnd see what other users think of it.

I'm thinking if I have to enter things from a web interface, and I have a lot of items, I would never do it. BUT, if I can upload an excel file or a CSV (or something similar), then I would find that useful. I could enter a thousand things easily in Excel or whatever, and then just do it quickly.

I think that being able to have sub-categories would be needed.

Good idea. A simple FK on the same table would do it.

it's a good idea, but if I would have needed it I would probably just have made my own system and hosted it myself

i have already thought of sub categories.
ill look into making it so you can import from Excel. i can do it . its just the security area more so with that
im going to make it so there are 4 tables for the items numbers - f and
g - m etc.. not exact split i will do but gives the idea. keeps the
performace up
i am thinking of making it into one of my applications . so people can download it and use it on their website.
