Topic: Permissions problems Posted: 22 March 2006 at 11:59am |
There are some
Permissions problem:
If you have a Group with Moderator rights, they can't moderate the Forum. But
if you set an individual user to Moderator permissions, then they can act
moderator.
If you add moderator permissions for a group and at the same time to one of the
users in that group, that user gets doublets of some forums.

I'm not sure if it is that I tired or just don't get what you are saying.
Could you please explain the issue again, and what the word doublets means?

If UserX are in the Moderator Group,
he can't edit posts, change settings in forums, close topics etc.
But if you set individual Permissions for UserX to Forum Moderator then he can
edit posts, change settings in forums, close topics etc.
But if UserX belongs to the Moderator Group and you set
individual Permissions for him to Forum Moderator, then all Forums that UserX
has Moderator Permission to, is showed twice.
I'm sorry for my bad English...

I've not been able to replicate this error.
Did you upgrade from a previous version 7.x database, if so there was an issue with the upgrade tool that has now been fixed that coursed a double permissions problem in the database.

This is the same I've reported yesterday.
Thanks to Adrina for explaining, in the night I had the same issue with an user in moderator group and with individual moderating permissions: he view the same forum duplicated. This occurs after DB conversion from 7.92 to 8rc1, Access.

I've updated the upgrade tool this morning, so hopefully the issue has now been sorted out.
It was a mistake in an SQL Query.

If you
already converted the database with the older version of the tool, are
there some way to get the permissions right.
If I clear the permission table in the database and in the Forum admin system
set the permission for user groups to what I want. Do you think that will
solve the problem?

Yes it will.
Just delete everything in the permissions table, then re-create the permissions in the admin section.
This is actually a better way to do it than in the upgrade tool, but I had to put something in the upgrade tool becuase before permissions are set no forums will display in the main forum page, and I would imagine this would alarm allot of people.
