I notice that there is a problem with WWF, if there were too many threads(for example 20,000) posted in a single forum in a single day, it would probably result in those servers down if there were not enough physical meomories installed.

No it shouldn't do.

Web Wiz Forums is capable of handling over 1 million posts, and this shouldn't matter if they are posted in a day or over the course of a year.

Yes, your server will need more resources to handle more posts but this is expected, and would happen with any forum, as the database will grow, requiring more disk space to store the larger database and more memory to load the database into the servers memory.

If you are using Access, then yes you will have issues as Access is a flat office file and not capable of handling the amounts of hits that a large forum would have.

If you are expecting this level of traffic, then you need to be running the SQL Server or mySQL versions, and have server resources inplace to cope with this type of traffic.

Microsoft says that for every visitor IIS will require 10kb of server memory, from experience running web servers the amount of traffic to post 20,000 posts in a day (thats 13 posts per second) you would be having at least 200 active users at all time on the server, even without running a forum you would be needing at least 2Gb of memory on the web server.

The SQL server or mySQL should be on it's on server and to cope with this amount of traffic and posts the SQL server would require around 300Mb for SQL server and around half that for mySQL.

Web Wiz Forums is written with performance in mind and is one of the highest performing forums you can get. Any forum having 20,000 posts a day will require allot of server resources and memory and you would certainly need a dedicated server for this amount of traffic.
