Hello all..

I was looking over our forum and found posts from a spammer. I know how to delete that member, and how to ban his IP...but as long as he was "on" the forum, I couldn't stop him from posting new messages. I was able to follow him thru all the forums and sub-forums, deleting his posts...but that sure took time.

Is there a way to not only delete and ban him but to ALSO delete all posts, or to kick him off the board all at once? Searched Admin, but couldn't find a way to do that....

?

Jim

If you suspend the users account (available in version 8 by editing the users profile) they will no longer be able to post.

You can also use Email activation and Admin activation, as well as IP and Email domain blocking to prevent the user from signing up as another user.

To find all the posts the user has made you can do a search for posts by a particular member.

do you mean then that I should SUSPEND the user's account first, and NOT delete it at all? or after it's suspended?

If you delete the account, the person can just recreate it... so deleting it doesnt do anything but make it easier for the person to sign up with the same name.

Suspending the account is much better, it means the user can not resign-up with the same name, and if email activation is enabled they can not use the same email address to sign up.

When an account is suspended the user can still access the board under the account, but they can't do anything, they have less rights than a Guest browser as the account is disabled.

Thanks again boRg....I understand this much better now.

On another note, do you know if anyone has as yet, incorporated your forum software into a social networking site?

Or do you plan to release perhaps one of your own?
