IIS and XP Media Center 2005 problem

Greetings!
I am having trouble configuring and installing IIS on my MCE.
There is nothing listed but the IIS words in the computer
management console, and when you click on it to expand, the
error message "This computer is not running IIS version 4 or
higher". According to the informaition that I read, IIS6 should
be on this version of XP. How do you determine the exact version
of IIS that I installed off of the Windows XP MCE 2005 CD? How
do I install the IIS snap-in? If you cannot answer these
questions, can someone direct me to information that can help
me. I have installed Visual Studion 2005, MS SQL 2005, as well
as .NET framework 2.0, all with no problem. I thought I had
installed IIS6, but it not listed as a Services in the Services
Console.
Thanks for any information you can give me.

How did you set it up? Here is something (from Microsoft) that you may want to read:
 
During installation, IIS installs optional components like Common Files, Documentation, and the Internet Information Services snap-in. You can choose not to install the optional components; however, deselecting specific components can decrease IIS functionality or disable IIS services. If you are unfamiliar with the optional components and how they affect IIS, install IIS with the default settings.
 
After you install it you will still be able to add additional components...

MCE 2005 is based on Windows XP Home, so does not come with IIS at all. If you upgraded from MCE 2003 which was based on Professional it should give you the option. IIS6 also only comes on Server 2003; Windows XP is running IIS 5.1
There are ways of installing IIS on WinXP Home, there are multiple articles on the net but some are deemed unreliable.

Microsoft says that XP Media Center 2005 is a XP Pro based application with Media Center additives.  IIS was on the Windows XP Cd that I have.  This is what my help and support says about my system (copied and pasted from my help and support --> Computer Information):
 Dell Inc.
Dell DM061
Service Tag JFNH9C1
Express Service Code 42305293441
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
Processor Speed 1.82 GHz
Memory (RAM) 2048 MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Operating System Version 5.1.2600
So what is true about my os?  Anybody know how to fix my IIS problem?

Yes I do Common Files, Documentation, and the Internet Information Services snap-in, I think.  When I searched ".msc" on my computer, I did find that I have duplicate .msc files: in the folders
C:\i386, C:\Windows\System32,
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Com 
C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv, C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\v2.0\Bin,
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\40\bin,
however, I realize that these .msc files are all MSC documentation files.
 
The only  files that are not duplicated are these files:
iis.msc and inetmgr.exe in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Inetsrv,
iis6.msc and iisui6.dll in folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\Inetsrv6.
inetmgr.exe opens the IIS console, but message says "There are no files to show in this view.
iisui6.dll shows as a IIS MMC Snap-in module. Can I assume that I need to install this snap-in?  What should I do next?
(I hope this was not information overloadConfused)

I am experiencing similar problems as brendaja with getting IIS to work properly on XP Media Edition 2005. I installed IIS from the manufacturer disc and it appears to install properly. 

However, when I click on the IIS icon it appears nothing happens.  When I go and shut down a "Save As" dialog box pops up asking me to save an .msc file.  The dialog box displays the number of times I click on the IIS icon.

I tried rebooting my system and it still doesn't help.  Any help with brendaja or my IIS issues would be much appreciated.

This is Odd, always thought the changed to Home with 2005.
 
As far as getting your IIS to work, are  basic commands like IISRESET recognized by your system?

I ran IISRESET from the command line and it said that it stopped and then started IIS. I have no evidence of this other than the command line responses.
