    Posted: 09 February 2008 at 12:14am
We've just moved our MSSQL DB from a shared server (where we were having issues), locally onto our own dedicated webserver and go it running in the MSSQL Server Express 2005 jobbie.

Now our host did the whole of this move for us and it's been a week of sorting out errors (mostly linked to DB table values AFAIK). We finally got it all sorted and for our members in the front of the forums, all is well

Yesterday I started checking things were all good in the back of house and through the Admin Panel.

They're not LOL.

In a nut, I made a change to the title of one of our forum sections and after clicking OK to save the change, it threw a standard page not found webby error. The change did actually happen but after doing that, the section I changed the name of, has now become invisible to the 4 of us in the Admin Group! It's not there on the forums default page anymore. I can confirm it is visible to every other member group, just not us in the Admin Group.

I am also unable to create additional forum sections, after doing so it just takes me to a "page not found" error etc

Also in the Admin section, if I try to make any changes to member permissions, either individual or at group level.. Again it throws a page not found error.

There are however tasks I can do in the Admin Section (add new members / change member groups / resync forums / move or delete threads etc etc)

I'm no MSSQL wizard or anything but as far as I can tell, this page not found error that keeps popping up when I do anything to amend or create forum sections and the same with any member permissions.. Must surely be linked to a table in the MSSQL DB? It is only the Admin Group that is effected and as mentioned, we can't see one of the forum sections anymore.

Any ideas please guys? Our host has been good when sorting out all these errors after we relocated the DB, this is the last outstanding issues (and we've had a lot), so I'm just fishing for info to assist our host, so he knows where he's got to look.

Many thanks and take care,
Shaun

"page not found" error is most likely a HTTP 500 error. You need to turn off "Show Friendly HTTP Error Messages" in IE.

Cheers for that - It's the same error we've been getting all week with other forum functions (just a different table).

This one for permissions:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e2f'

Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Group_ID', table 'NPOCDB.dbo.tblPermissions'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

/forum/admin_user_permissions.asp, line 122

&

This one when I try to set up or amend forum sections:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e2f'

Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'No_of_topics', table 'NPOCDB.dbo.tblForum'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

/forum/admin_forum_details.asp, line 213

Our host seems to have dried up with his help, they have sorted out about 10 of the exact same error (just different table).. So it must be an easy task?

Any ideas what I need to be doing?

Many thanks,
Shaun

Guys - Can anyone please help here. We are and always have been a paying licensed customer of the WWF product and I'm getting a little frustrated at the lack of help?

Short of driving to Wimbledon and headbutting my host, I'm stuck trying to sort out the above errors I'm getting in our Admin Section. As it stands I can NOT amend or create new forum sections, nor can I amend individual users forum permissions.

We have our own webserver and the MSSQL DB resides on it. I can make any changes but I need to know what I need to change.

I understand from extensively searching on here, that after the host moved our DB to our server and set it up using the 2005 Express Edition, it's 99.9% likely that the table defaults have not been carried across correctly and set up etc.

I CAN CHANGE or amend these. I just need someone to tell me the correct values.

At present the 2 tables I know which are effected are as above:

column 'Group_ID', table 'NPOCDB.dbo.tblPermissions'

&

column 'No_of_topics', table 'NPOCDB.dbo.tblForum'

I can happily take screen shots of my columns and tables, so you can see what they are at the moment and advise what needs to change.

Or perhaps one of the WWF team can explain how I get setup into the section where I can get the support I thought I was going to get, as a fully licensed customer?

Everything else on the front of the forums, that my members see and use, works 100%.. It's just the Admin end of it I need to sort. It's a right pain in the arse as I need to change the forum section layouts and some permissions on some individuals and I can't.

Many thanks ad take care,
Shaun
