    Posted: 06 August 2008 at 3:10am
Ok I am lost. In the prior version I could send out a mass email to all the registered users of the forum but I no loner see that Option. I read some post where that option is no longer available except in NewsPad. I installed NewsPad but still do not see that option. i am disappointed that that option was taken from the forum :-(   Can someone tell me exactly how to send a mass email out to all the registered forum users using NewsPad? Thanks for your assistance. Please put that back in the next version. I do not need a newsletter but just a way to send out mass emails out on occasion.

You need to configure NewsPad to work with the Web Wiz Forums database by entering the database connection details into the admin area of NewsPad. Then when you go to send an eNewsletter from NewsPad you can select which web wiz forums groups you want to send the eNewsletter to.

In Web Wiz Forums on the forum configuration page you need to enable NewsPad support this then displays a 'Newsletter' subscription option in your members forum profile and when registering.

You can also from the forum configuration page in web wiz forums setup web wiz forums to display eNewsletter links on the homepage of your forum.

Do the forum users have to "subscribe" to a newsletter to receive the email? If so this does not do me much good because I want to be able to send an email to all users that have registered to use the message forum. I think the option to having to register again to subscribe to a newsletter is rather redundent don't you think? Also I do not see a "send enewsletter" option. I see a Create Newsletter option (no e) is that what you mean?

Its illegal to send out emails if someone did not sign up for it. Registering on a forum is not considered signing up for your spam.

MadDog is quite right the user has to explicitly subscribe to receiving eNewsletters, otherwise under anti-spam laws you could face large fines or imprisonment.

You members can subscribe by going to their forum profile, once NewsPad is enabled in Web Wiz Forums, and checking the 'Newsletter' option.

After you have created a newsletter in NewsPad you can send the eNewsletter via email, you select which NewsPad categories you want to receive it and also as long as you have setup Web Wiz Forums integration in NewsPad can select which forum groups you want to also be sent the eNewsletter via email.

Is there a way to post a "notice" in the forums that all users will see upon sign-in?

You can always change the text in the registration page before getting to the form.  Then, if they agree, the Newsletter subscription can be changed to default 'True'.  Of course, you can always let them opt out afterward.
