Topic: Search popup error 9.55 Posted: 21 February 2009 at 12:27am |

My search and calendar popups shows some strange behavior;
1. In Firefox (Vista), the search and calendar popups are layered UNDER the google adwords banner.
2 In IE8 RC1, the search popup is layered correctly, but the texts and text box are missing, only the radio buttons show.
3. In Google Chrome they both show correctly.
I just updated to 9.55, and I am unsure if this behavior was there before the upgrade or not. Does anyone know how to fix this?

1. Never seen this behaviour and have just tested in Firefox Vista and can not see an issue
2. IE8 RC1 does have a bug that means that some IFrames are not rendered correctly. Microsoft should fix this rendering bug by the time of the full release.

Unfortunately, I also get this behaviour as well. It's as if the Google AdSense is in front of the Search box throughout.

You made quite a few modifications to your forum but I see what you mean about the search box hiding behind the google ads. Why don't you at the moment disbale the big ad, and leave the ones running on the reply boxes until you can figure it out. Since I don't personally run google ads on our forums, I cannot say why you would have this issue, apart from the modifications that are there too

It may well be that Google have changed their Adsense code recently which runs on their servers to always be on-top and not hidden by another layer.
If this is the case it may be quite difficult to override this behaviour as the Google Ads load after the rest of the page content.

I have found a solution for this issue by adding a z-index in the CSS so that drop downs will always be at the top layer. Edit your forum CSS file and find the following part and add thye part in red:-
/* Drop Down Menus */ .dropDownMenu, .dropDownStatusBar, .dropDownSearch, .dropDownTopicRating, .dropDownCalendar, .dropDownTopicSearch, .dropDownPermissions{ visibility: hidden; position: absolute; left: 0px; top: 0px; z-index:10; }
