SQL 9.60 slower than 9.5x

I am using the latest version 9.60 but still also have the pages for MS SQL 9.56a installed so can do a direct comparison of the two versions against the same database.

Refreshing forum_topics.asp for a specific forum using 9.60 takes 0.312 seconds whereas with 9.56a it takes just 0.156 seconds.

Guys, I have done proper tests. I only reinstalled the old version when I noticed the decline in performance. I have one database on an otherwise quiet server. I have a \forum folder with the new version and now a \forumold folder with the old version so its easy to run side-by-side tests.

I installed the new version using the wizard as documented and did not edit the connection file manually.

Believe me, there is a consistent difference in performance between the two sets of ASP pages.

I am not suggesting its the pages themselves but perhaps the way the database is opened or the use of memory variables (not using them in the new version for some reason causing reads on the default.asp page).

Thanks for looking Bruce. I'll continue to monitor and delete the old version. The reason I investigated in the first place is that the times stood out as being quite a bit slower.

I have since fiddled and rebooted, in particular switching off logging on image folders and other unnecessary folders and this helps performance generally a little. It MIGHT account for the currently reduced difference between the versions here (less than twice at the moment).

I'd like to ask someone using the latest version to quickly put up a \forumold folder with the old version in it and to do a test on their server...although I acknowledge the limited programming changes made between versions I am not ready to believe I am the only one with this issue as my setup is so simple.

Lets bear it in mind and see...
