I apologize if in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong area.  I just downloaded v9.65 and am trying to work through getting a forum up, but, I'm in no way, very knowledgeable when it comes to networking, etc.  I have my own domain (www.djlifeguard.com) through hostsave.com.  I know how to FTP files to my server (I using FTP Voyager).  I uploaded the "forum" folder and content to my root directory and was able to access it with my web browser.  I chose "Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008" (not sure if that's the right one or not really), as I don't even know what "SQL" means.  Under "Server" I entered my domain name (http://www.djlifeguard.com), and filled out the rest of the info.  But when I click "Test Database Connection", I get the following:

An Error Occurred Connecting to the Database

Error details:-
ADODB.Connection.1
The application is using arguments that are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another.

Where do I go from here?  Thanks!!

-Steve

You need to contact your web host and ask them what databases your account supports.

If you have SQL Server or mySQL databases ask them for what the connection and login detail would be for your database

Your actual web address www.djlifeguard.com redirects to a myspace folder
Are you sure you even have the correct permissions in the first place to upload a site/files?

...YES...  djlifeguard.com is MY domain and I have it directing to MY myspace page (I had my provider do that for me).  I do FTP to my domain all the time and have for years...

Ok, they said that I would have to use mySQL and gave me the Server Name and Database name.  Now I'm getting this error:

An Error Occurred Connecting to the Database

Error details:-
ADODB.Connection.1
SQLState: S Native Error Code: 2003 [TCX][MyODBC]Can't connect to MySQL server on 'mysql-overdriveshow.djlifeguard.com' (111)

Looks like there is something not right on the server that you are using. You would need to contact your hosting provider and get them to fix the issue.

Hi DJ - sorry I guess my comment looked quite rude re-reading it back in the daytime
As Bruce says it sounds like an issue with the host setting up the database

I would assume that you use some control panel to login into your client area, and normally somewhere there is an option to setup a database
There are of course 4 things you would need to know:

The database name
The database username
The database password
And the database Server

This page shows you the documentation for MySQL
