This is not an issue with the Web Wiz Forums but rather an issue with SQL Server.

For whatever reason the SQL Server can not be connected to. When you see this error use the SQL Server Configuration Manager that should have been installed along with SQL Server to make sure that the service is still running.

Also the type of Virtual Machine that you are using has allot to play in it. If you are using a Virtuozzo Virtual Machine, then you don't have real virtual server but a shared container on a single OS shared with everyone else on the same server, which often causes allot of issues like this as others on the same server will affect your own services on your Virtual Machine.

When choosing a Virtual Server Host you should look for one based on VmWare or Hyper-V, such as our own Hyper-V Virtual Servers, as these give your own own dedicated OS and resources, so you are not using a shared container and thus other people on the same host server do not affect your own Virtual Server.

The page below explains why Virtual Servers based on Hyper-V are much better than if you are using a Virtuozzoshared container:-

For some reason the service wont start. I restart the server and stimes this does the trick. If not I have to manually start the services.

Thats good to hear that you are on VmWare ESX as it means that we can illuminate another users affecting your own services.

As this is SQL Server related you would probably have more luck asking in a SQL Server forum as to why the service keeps stopping.

In the meantime have a look in the log files in the Event Viewer to see if that gives you any clue as to why the SQL Server stops responding.

You can also go to Services in the Administration Console, select Properties for the SQL Server service and under the Recovery tab tell the service to restart the service if it fails.
