I believe I have 9 version, and what to get the latest version.  I was able to login into your site, and I should be able to upgrade to it, but when I run the installation menu from the website I don't know if I should upgrade from 9 to version 9 again.  I know my version is slightly different from yours.  How do i find the revision of 9 verses your revision?

If you are using 9.5.x or above there should be a check for updates option in the admin area which also shows your current version.

When updating from 9.x to another 9.x you choose the 9.x upgrade option in the install wizard.

Hi
I know this may sound silly, but in addition to what Bruce just said above, when you say my version is slightly different, I assume you are not confusing the actual layout, as this forum runs a beta version, and obviously runs also within an existing website
If you are also in doubt, goto your forum homepage, and then in your browser (if Firefox), choose View Page Source, and near the top, it will give you the version details too:

Example this one

I am looking to do the upgrade manually I have a problem with active directory that will not give me permission to the SQL directory so the installation can succeed.  I was wondering if I can do it the old way, and just edit a file.  The version I have is 9.06.

As far as I can see having checked the version history, there have been NO database changes. However, I assume that you are giving read and write permissions to the database folder (including the access database). Check the upgrade procedure - LINK

Failing that, then yes in theory you could try a manual upload, but I would strongly urge you to make a backup of both your existing files and database, just in case.
REMEMBER - Do not overwrite the uploads folder in your current setup, otherwise any files that are in it will be lost!
