I ran the SQL setup page and all tables have been created on the SQL database ok...when I go to the forum>>default.asp page to set configuration I get this error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e09'

EXECUTE permission denied on object 'wwfSpSelectConfiguration', database 'grumdb', owner 'dbo'.

/ozpwc/forum_SQL/common.asp, line 191

This is a permissions problem on the SQL server, you need to correctly set permisisons on the SQL server to connect to the database and then use those username and password to connect to the database from the forum.

I connect to the DB ok using server name, UID and PWD because I was able to run the script to add tables to the database. So then how does one set permissions??? or is this something to do with 'owner' permissions.....I see the forums created all tables with the owner = 'dbo' - should I change this to match the UID I use to connect??

It looks like you don't have permission on the SQL server to execute stored procedures.

Make yourself a dbo on the database. If you have it in a hosted enviroment they don't know how to set it up. They prob, just gave you read and write permissions. For executing sp, you need like borg said execute permissions or even better (like it should be) make the user a dbo

OK thanks guys...you were right I didn't realise I had to ask my host to allow permissions to run SP. FOrum is now up and running..I imported all my access db data and all forums and posts are there....

only one problem now - I'm getting this error when I try to post a new topic (or update and existing one):

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cb3'

Current Recordset does not support updating. This may be a limitation of the provider, or of the selected locktype.

/ozpwc/forum_SQL/post_message.asp, line 322

your help and advice again appreciated.

well if you didn't alter any scripts I would recommend asking your host to update their MDAC.

Well I figured this one out and thought I should let you know. It appears my importing of data from Access 2002 was not the best as when I started from scratch everything worked out ok. I then imported the data again, each table seperate and in a particular order to preserve foreign keys....and hey it all works great.
