Could somebody please give me advice of linking to a DSNs.  My host has created one for me so that I can link to my database without the risk of it been downloaded by a hacker

Thanks a million!

DSN connections to databases are much slower then a DSN-less connection.

What you are better doing is following the documentation that comes with the forum on moving the database from hackers and editing the common.asp files placing in the path to the new location of the database on the server.

This then means that you will not require the slower DSN connection, but your database will still be safe from hackers.

Hosts can't prevent DSN-less connections unless they don't support databases at all.

follow-up question then....

if the .MDB is moved to a directory above the web root directory..as recommended....  how do you refer to it in the .asp code that needs to be modified ?  (since it's no longer in a directory below where the common.asp file lives).

Thanks...
