visibility of protected forums

I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere but if so, I can't find it...

I have a number of protected forums - protected by password, and some with access restricted by user group/specific individuals.

However when people post to these, everyone can see the subject title as it appears on the active posts page. How can I stop this happening and have it only show up for those people who can see the forum?

Is there an easy way? Or do I have to get up off my big fat ass and edit the code? 8)
