That is probally more to do with the look of your forum.
Looking at your forum your links aren't underlined and just look like text, so to new computer users they don't look like these are links.
Even as an experinced computer user the links within your forum don't appear to be links to me.
Maybe reading some of Jakobs Nielsen's usability research from his site at http://www.useit.com/ will help. Also there are some book reveiws in the book review section of this site that are written by Jacob Nieslen that are very good when building a web site that is user friendly.
