Is there anything you can suggest for this problem.  The files do not have to be in pdf format.  This for an asp/access intranet application I am working on.  So I have full control over the client machines plugins etc.

PS Your help is much appreciated

but whether its an intranet or internet based application still doesn't change the fact that the client PC must have software installed to handle the various file types (whether .doc, or .pdf, or .xls)

if the file isn't run through the software, the client pc is just going to see

Sorry , I thought this forum was setup to help beginners like me.  To find solutions to their problems and not a place where people as skilled as yourself can poke fun at me

i am unaware where i am "poking fun at you", but i am trying to get you to understand the whole client/server relationship that web based applications all flow around......

if you took it as me making fun of you, my apologies, it wasn't even close to the intent...
