Topic: Webmail - fetching client POP3 Posted: 24 January 2004 at 9:50am |
Hi guys,
Im in need of some help or a link to a guide that can help me setup a webmail feature for the members of my website. All platinum members get a free email address, but i want the mail from the mailbox to be easily accessed for them as they struggle setting up mail in OE.
A good webmail application would also be excellent if you know of any. It will need to be able to send mail too, using ASPMail.
Cheers
Matt

SquirrelMail - http://www.squirrelmail.org is a full featured open source web mail program that can alo be used to collect mail from other systems. It may be overkill for your purposes though.
I've only used the Unix version. good docs and relatively easy to set up (YMMV). They have a windows version which is usually 1 step behind the Unix version.
It's on SourceForge which is having some problems this weekend. They figure on being back to normal on Monday.

http://www.webmailasp.net/
Also, if your web host has a forum, yu may want to post the question there. You may find that other users have written their own webmail clients specifically for use on that host.

No, the forum is a motorcycle chat forum, they dont have a clue about stuff like this.
Ive tried the webmailasp.net link and it seems like you have to pay for it. Im after something free, even if it includes advertising.
Also, i cant install server objects because i dont have access to the server... its an online host. But thanks anyway.
Any more ideas? ive tried hotscripts.com and cant find anything useful.

I was after something like that a while ago, but I could not found something in asp. The only thing I found was this php app, which was quite easy to setup.

Wasn't talking about the forum on the site. Your site is hosted by some hosting company. Many of them have customer forums. Some other customer may have already resolved the problem.
