Topic: PM and error? Posted: 11 March 2003 at 4:53pm |
say u want to PM someone, u got his name wrong. Your message is not sent. There's the option "admend your pm...", click on it to get back and u lost what you just wrote which might be something you spent 3 hours in!!!!.
I hate when posts , pm or emails that do that!!!!

If you're spending 3 hours typing a PM you want to get out more...

Are you taking longer than 20 minute to write the post?
Also make sure that you are not using a cached or saved version of the page?
Also what is the exact error message?
For security reasons to stop people remotly posting form input and flooding the forum the ASP session ID is sent with the post, if you have taken more than 20 minutes you will have lost the ASP session ID as your session will have been dropped, or if using a cashed version of the page the session ID won't match.
This has been a feature of this forum now for over a month and so far no-ne else has encounted this problem.

I've just tested the PM, sending one to a member that doesn't exsist and then clicked the ammend PM link, not the back button on the browser, and the PM was still there for me to ammend.

I'm not sure if this is related. I came back to the site this morning and saw my username had been logged in. Then, I navigated around the forums via clicking on topic links and all; and posting. The loggin info had been cached/stored for sure and maybe, just maybe all the pages I saw were cached also (even if I click on the links?)
I'm pretty sure it didn't take me 20 min or over to type a message twice as long as this one. Anyway, let me double check.

For the PM, the message does get lost when you hit "admen ..." Maybe another user can verify. Go to PM -> new message
Type in a strange username which would not be found, subject, message. Send. You'll get link "admend....", click it to go back. See if your message will still be there!
