This is the third attempt at this post hopefully it will go through this time got an SQL error.

First I want to thank you all for an awsome job on these forums my users love them.

Second on to the question.  I would like to be able to use the forum database Username and Password information to create another asp login page for controlling user file uploads for another part of my website.  I don't have a problem accessing the database table for user id but have never tried to do the password field with encryption can someone help me with this issue.  I want to be able to validate a user to this database instead of creating another database but don't know how to do it with encryption.

Thanks

Chaps

Just use the login_user.asp file form the forum, the logged in user tracking is done in the common.asp file.

Thank you very much for the information.  It appears that I need to encrypt the password they type in the form I create and then check it against the database to verify the password is correct.  Again thanks for the fast response.
