Topic: Pablo Software Solutions: Quick-n-Easy Web Server Posted: 21 March 2006 at 5:21am |
Well,
Guess what?
I had to blow away my IIS5 webserver when I swapped HD's to a new box I was assembling. I needed to have a temporary web server to host my page in short notice, guess what I used? Oh yeah... Pablo Software Solution's Quick-n-Easy Web Server. Not bad for a mere $20.00, is it?? No way!
Want to know the ironic part? Snitz won't even work on this web server, but it runs every WebWiz application in existance. How about that?!

Blatantly advertising someone else products to potential customers with a link too, while claiming a competing product to be inferior..how about that..

Well...that's kind of harsh, don't you think?
I actually purchased Pablo's Software Solutions Web Server and tested it on an XP Home box with a multitude of applications over the weekend, including Snitz and WWF.
I am merely conveying my findings as a public service to all ASP enthusiasts seeking an alternative to IIS.

Nothing wrong with plugging a product that you use. It's called WOM.

Does it run the latest version 8 of Web Wiz Forums though?
Version 7.x was written in ASP 2.0, but version 8 uses ASP 3.0.
Would be nice to know, and very useful when your stuck with XP Home version and no IIS

I only tested WWF v7. I'll test v8 sometime tonight and let you know the results.

I looked at that eldergeek site.
Is it really worth doing all those registry changes, especially at the cost of ruining the OS and only having maybe 5 concurrent possible web connections at a time?
Hmm...my grasp of cost benefit analysis says no.
