Are you saying calendar dates are subject to a user's time zone settings?
This could become an issue if you are posting, say a Carnival event in Jamaica, and someone in the UK is viewing the entry when its one date in the Americans and another date in the UK due to time zone difference. If the time and date are adjusted for local time zone for the calendar dates, it could tell the UK person that the Carnival is on a different day than it is, and the UK person buys airline tickets and a hotel room for the wrong days. A very expensive mistake.
I think in most cases, events would need to be displayed on the exact day and time the event is scheduled to be on and there should be no adjustment for time zones.
I can't think of any reason why you would want to adjust an event's date based on time zone. Examples of events:
- Holidays - occur on specific dates and are not subject to adjustment by time zone (i.e. Christmas is always on Dec. 25th no matter what time zone you are in).
- Events - are typically tied to a location with a specific date, time and location and are not subject to adjustment by time zone.
- Birthdays - always occur on the date in question, and are not adjusted by time zone.
The only thing that I can think of that would benefit from a time zone adjustment are perhaps online events, but since you don't specify the time for the events in the calendar, it would get confusing real quick as to when the event actually is.
