Access upgrade to mySql

Hi,

I'm currently on forum version 6.34, old I know, but it's been happily working without problems for well over a year.  But last week it all went pear shaped, the server just can't seem to handle it anymore, the front page wont work at all and the topics just about show after a minute. My database is up to 38mb.

So my question is, can I upgrade my Access database in version 6.34 to mySql, or even SQL server (although I'd much prefer mySql as it cheaper on my host) on forum V8+.

All repsonses welcome, except "You should have upgraded years ago"
