I am planning on working on a multi-skin mod for V8.x. Some of the stuff I've seen in the past, for example for V7.x, used the DB, and the only multi-skin mod for V8.x I have seen uses the DB.I am thinking for MOD like this, the database round trip is probably not worth it, simply to store a list of skins, so I was going to build the dependency into the code, so for example, if you want to add a new skin to your list of available skins, you'd copy the files to the proper folder, and then add the skin as an option to the selection page, and it would then be available to your users. What do you think of this angle?

well, it is a nice idea. I had one like this working by the help of darbs for my 7.96 version board. some users prefer not messing with the db and some simply dont like playing with files. so if you can make an option i say go for it :)

Why not make it an XML file and make a user-friendly form to add or delete an element(skin) from the XML list?
