I was using this forum on another website and liked the feel. I am in the process of building a new site and adding a forum. I had been looking at phpBB and actually downloaded it to try it out.

Can somone tell me, (because I haven't found a good comparison) why you chose this over phpBB or some of the others?

Does this allow you to add google ads down the left side?

Is there a "view my threads" option so people can easily see all of their threads?

Is it easy to apply different templates? I know on phpBB there are alot of templated uploaded that you can take and apply.

Is there a place on here that has a list of forums using this?

Thanks for the info.

Wow what allot of questions.

I'll awnser the main one as to why you choose this over PHPbb.

phpBB is written in PHP which runs well on Unix/Linux servers, if you are using this type of web server then choose phpBB, if however, you are using a Windows web server then you should choose Web Wiz Forums as it is written in ASP which runs much better of Windows web servers.

PHPBB is very insecure (of course more popular, but I've seen plenty hacked up)

Your own? Probably, with code modifications.

No (I don't think so), but this is very easy to MOD (as in make yourself).

I have instances of both: (WWF, and phpBB),

and i much prefer WWF.

There aren't as many skins available, but the user experience is much

Thanks to Borg's editor it's much easier for my users to make formated posts.

Thanks for the feedback. How does this compare to vBullentin? I know vbullentin has a fee, but it is small change to pay for functionality.

In terms of system requirements - My hosting plan allows for 100GB of bandwidth, 1,000 MB of disk space, and 200 MB of either MySQL or MS SQL. How long do you think that would carry me? I know it all depends on how often you have posts etc, but just wanted some feedback on the set up.

Yup, the forum can be seemlessly intergrated into any website with ease using simple HTML

I belive this has been requested or is already available in the mod section.

I use both Webwiz and PHPBB and Webwiz has by far the easiest skinning system using only plain CSS.

Just to finish off i'd like to hopefully push you into the right choice by pointing out that while the skins, languages and Mods are created and designed by members of the community, the actual forum base code is all written and maintained by one person (-boRg-) this means that security is amazing and the code is as tight as can be.

I do too like using PHPBB but i always end up back at webwiz and i always push my clients towards webwiz
Handyman man?

i have to say ive used WWF since V6, in 2002 ( i believe ) cant remeber that far..lol]

and i'd use this its the most secure, well written application i know, ive taken pointers etc from the code to make my coding better.

also the security updates are very fast, m ost of the time within a day of finding them, depending on the hole, but with the way the forum is built it is very secure.

with regards to size, etc i belive the installed version is from 5 - 6 meg of space, and bandwidth is fine, but of course depends on the hits.

in V8.5 bthere is going to be an online skin selector.

ive not seen PhpBB Support, but myself and the others are around daily, and offer support, WWF has a good support/knowlegable people that are happy to  help. with regards to seeing it in action, why not try the LINK WARE/ FREE version to see how it woprks and runs, and if you want to donate to Borg , (which every one does as its so good).

Borg is that dedicated that i have seen him working on christmas and other occations.

i better stop now before its a full blown essay.

Regards
