    Posted: 08 February 2007 at 11:36pm
I get the following error when we go through the forgotten password process.  After we enter the name and email, this error pops up.  I have tried every combination of mail servers and authentication and still get the error.  The weird thing is we have the same forum on the same web server in two other places and both of them work.  This forum was upgraded from 7.x to 8.x, if that helps.  Any suggestions?

Probably already checked this but....

Is the failing domain listed under your default STMP virtual server in IIS?

I hadn't checked that, but I just did and none of my domains are listed there, just the computer name.  I'm using MailEnable if that matters.

I was directed to this article which I believe has fixed the problem.  It seems the IP address of the problem domain was not allowed to relay in MainEnable.  Here is the article, hopefully this will help someone else...

Out of interest, did you re-write any of the mail functions in WWF to use ME?

I did not write any of the mail functions in WWF or ME.  I checked the SMTP log in MailEnable to find out an error when trying to authenticate the outgoing mail.  I ended up resetting the password through MailEnable and that fixed it.

You shouldn't need to chnage anything when using MailEnable.

CDOSYS uses the IIS SMTP server, so when using this on the same server as ME the best thing to do is to place the IIS SMTP server on port 26, keep outgoing port as 25 and use MailEnable as the Smat Host, if it is on the same server then you would use 'localhost' as the Smart Host to relay mail to MailEnable.
