margaret21,
I'll take you at your word and believe you want help and not advertising on forums.
First off you design a website with goals and objectives in mine.
What do you want the website to do for you and how are you going to get there!
You shouldn't decide on the type of medium to use first (Flash, asp, php, dotnet, etc.). After you determine your goals you use the best medium to achieve them.
Flash may not be best to achieve your goals.
Let's say you are starting a web design company.
First off determine who your target audience is (businesses, personal web sites....etc)
Determine where your leads are going to come from (the web, direct referral, Internet ads, ads in phone book, newspaper etc.)
If you're going to stand at the local wall mart and hand out flyer's flash may be just fine, but if you are going to rely on the search engines, it may not be the best choice for you (unless you really know what you're doing).
If you are building a landing site flash may be OK to a degree.
Remember The US is 15th in broadband usage. With a 19 second load time at 56K you can expect 75% of your visitors to leave before the page loads. I often ask CEO's when I have the initial meetings - if I put up a blank page and it triples your leads - do you care? Never had one say yes.
Rule one - Demographics - demographics - demographics
