New members can't Register

We recently had some software installed which knocked off all the permissions on all sites using databases on our hosting server
 
These were quickly re-permissioned but it seems to have affected New members from registering, they fill out the form then get a 'Page Cannot be Displayed' error
 
I'm running Version 8 on MySql so I'm wondering if there is a specific folder I need to allow write access to I may have missed, as Ive no idea what else to do

Ok, ive been thinking what could be wrong and I think its this ...
 
A week or so back I created another member group called New Member, I don't know why but I set it as a non-ladder group and now the forum won't let me delete this from the list and revert back to my original Newbie which is in the list
 
(Having admin probs since upgrading) so think I need to delete this group througfh Mysql front on the actual server, how will I know which group is which by looking at the tables ???

You have set this group as the 'New Members Group', you need to set the 'New Members Group' as another group to get the option to delete this group.
