I upgraded from version 7 to version 8 last night.  I also ran the database upgrade.  Everything appeared to work great at first and I could log in and see the forums.  However, when I click on any forum or try to show active posts or any other function, I get the following error:

When I click on "Important Updates" or any other tab I get:
Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while executing SQL query on database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_get_topics_data
File Name:- forum_topics.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
Unrecognized database format 'd:\hosting\nbfenet\access_db\wwForum.mdb'.

This usually y indicates a corrupted database which is not uncommon with Access.

What you will need to do is download the database, open it in MS Access and select 'compact and repair database' from the tools menu.

ok, I did that and now every page of the forum gives this error:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while reading user data from the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_getUserData()_get_member_data
File Name:- functions_login.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
No value given for one or more required parameters.


I have the old forum and the new forum in place and the old forum still works but the new forum doesn't and they are both using the same database.

Thats the problem, you haven't read the instructions in the upgrade tool.

If you attempt to run version 7 on a version 8 database it will damage the database and make it unstable and unusable.

Hopefully you did follow the part about backing up your database before running the upgrade tool.

What you will need to do is go back to your version 7 backup database (beofre the upgrade tool was run on it), compact and repair it, then run the upgrade tool on the database. Once upgraded ONLY run the upgraded database with version 8, NOT with version 7 or you will end up with an unstable database.
