What exactly does AJAX mean for the  forums?
 
Does it mean we wont have to refresh the page to receive PMs or see new messages. Will it look like they're added in real-time?

AJAX is good when used properly but can course issues if not.

Doing things like continually polling the server for new posts will mean 100's if not 1000's of database hits, which would bring forums with heavy traffic to a grinding holt and crash those using Access backend with just light traffic.

There is a danger to overuse things like AJAX and course more issues than it would solve.

Turn what off? it's not being used in the way you ask.

You will just have to wait for te demo to see whats in the new version.
