Is there a way to change the max characters allowed in the users signature. I see that 200 is the current limit... but how would I change it if I wanted to up it?

I have found the signature_preview file that has some things that may be related... just wanna check.

'Read in the message to be previewed from the cookie set
strSignature = Mid(Request.Form("signature"), 1, 200) - Do I change this to reflect the max sig count?

'Take the signature down to 255 characters max to prevent database errors
strSignature = Mid(strSignature, 1, 255) - Maybe I should not change it?????

Without going into the code at this time, what I recall off the top of my head is...
255 sounds like it's a small text field type in the db. You'd probably need to change the field type to a larger type of text field. The exact field type for a larger text field would depend upon the db being used.

I don't recall if the sig field was run through the function to replace characters that might be used in an sql injection attack. but I imagine it would be. If so, one displayed character might be represented by a 4 character entity which means the b field must be larger than the max displayed characters.

The sig file is probably validated in javascript client side as well as in server side script. You might have to change both.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Same here. We need to put image links with very long URL addresses and files names, and 200 chars is not enough.

Please help...

You ned to chnage the code that ToJaRo mentions.

You will also need to change the field type in the database to 'memo' for access or a larger text size in SQL Server. However, it is set at the present limit in the database as larger file size larger than 255 will mean your database will not perform as fast and require more storage and more server memory.
