I want to purchase a license for each, however I want to know which ones are better. Provided they must be WWF-compatible.

Email Components compatible with WebWiz Forums:
  • CDOSYS - SMTP Server Authentication supported
  • CDONTS - SMTP Server Authentication not supported
  • JMail - SMTP Server Authentication not supported
  • JMail ver.4+ - SMTP Server Authentication supported
  • AspEmail - SMTP Server Authentication supported
  • AspMail - SMTP Server Authentication not supported

Upload Components compatible with Web Wiz Forums:

  • Persits AspUpload 2.x or above
  • Dundas Upload 2.0
  • SoftArtisans FileUp 3.2 or above (SA FileUp)
  • aspSmartUpload
  • AspSimpleUpload

So which ones to go with?

For email, use CDOSYS which comes with Windows 2003 server, the only other one I would consider is JMail.

For upload components you can't beat AspUpload.

So it looks like CDOSYS is already installed on the server, however I keep getting this error when trying to use it on WWF:

Error details:-
CDO.Message.1
Access is denied.

Off hand as far as I recall this is a permissions error.

Either you don't have the correct permissions on the CDOSYS.DLL found in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 directory or you do not have the correct permissions set on the C:\interpub\mailroot directory.

First check you have read and write permissions on the C:\interpub\mailroot\queue and C:\interpub\mailroot\pickup directory for the IUSR account on the server. If that doesn't fix the issue make sure you have read permissions on the CDOSYS.DLL file for the IUSR account.

Still getting the error. I have granted Write and even modify permission to the IUSER account for the mailroot folder and for the CDOSYS.DLL object, but still getting the error.

Have you included sub folders on the mailroot folder?

Also sometimes you need to grant permissions for all users on the mail root folder.

Yes I have...

I was wondering though, should folders still inherit permissions from the parent folder after changing the permissions?
