Topic: New Member Bug? Posted: 10 August 2007 at 5:22pm |

While testing, I created a new user and fat-fingered my e-mail address.
As a result, I never received the activation e-mail. When I realized
what I'd done, I tried to logout using the status bar link, but it
wouldn't log out the inactive user.
Attempting to view the Memberlist allowed me to log in as the Admin and
fix the e-mail address. From that point I was able to resend the
activation e-mail and, once the account was activated, logout properly.
This only happens when creating new accounts. Activated accounts are able to logout properly.
This is in v9.02 and v9.03.
Thank,
-Jeremy

I been through to double check this as it sounds very odd and can not replicate this.
Non-activated members are able to logout the same as full members, their forum session is destroyed in exactly the same way.
Make sure you don't have a corrupted file by reuploading the original files again.

Nope, re-downloading the archive and uploading log_off_user.asp. Are there any other files I need to re-upload?
I have the same problem in IE and FireFox and can duplicate it by doing the following:
1. Create a new account 2. Verify that "Login" changes to "Logout [username]" 3. Click the logout link.
Thanks.

thats correct...i ran into the same bug.
register as new user. The new user has to wait till activation from the admin. And during that its not possible for this new user to log out.
i call it a bug ;-)

Still can not replicate this so can only put this down to your browser not clearing the cookie cache out.
What browser and browser version are you using?

I'm able to duplicate it on two systems, both with the latest versions of IE 7 and Firefox. I couldn't duplicate it on this forum. Clearing cookies had no effect.
