Am i just missing it? but i would like to be able to PM groups. like my moderators. Since the mass email is gone i cannot email them and i dont want to bother making a "buliten" just to tell them to check something...

This is an excellent idea but I'm afraid someone might take advantage of it and spam every single member with one single click! The ideal way of doing it is to make it an admin-only feature.

Also, if you want to be able to mass email members like you did with version 8, then simply copy these two files from version 8 to version 9's directories:
  1. admin_member_mailier.asp
  2. admin_member_mailier_send.asp

Now do this

  1. In version 9, login to the admin area
  2. Now that you're in the admin area, In your browser's address bar type the address to the first file: www.domain-name.com/admin_member_mailer.asp

That's all Smile

I'll see if I can make this a mod and post it for you.

Hi Info_Tech,

I didn't know about this thread but did try that exact method last night. Unfortunately it sent the emails to the correct members but also sent a blank email to my entire membership so a few things may need to be altered with the SQL queries. I got a flood of email replies asking "What's with the blank email?"

Something to check before sending thousands of emails.

If you do figure it out please post the results. I'm also using the Access Version.

Cheers

Justin Kruger

Hello Justin,

I tried it myself and it worked perfectly for me... but the difference is, is that my forum uses an MS-SQL database and not MS Access.

I have just double-checked it and came up with same results. I sent an email to the admin group, i received the one email successfully and no blank emails no duplicate emails. Maybe this is something to do with the database type?
